What decides where you land in the range
The size of the frame counts for less than people expect; the number of parts counts for more. A frame with a transom bar, a fanlight and glazing bars takes more labour than a larger frame with one continuous pane.
Access is the second item. Anything reachable from the ground or from a small indoor tower stays at the bottom of the range. Above first floor level a scaffold or a hoist is added, and that appears separately on the quotation.
The third item is what sits behind the old frame. Rotten internal timber or a settled lintel only becomes visible once the frame is out. That is additional work, it is reported in advance with a price, and it proceeds only after you agree.
A price indication for your situation
A photo, your postcode, the year the house was built and the number of frames produce a range. The quotation follows only after measuring up in the rebate: a wrong dimension is the most expensive mistake in this trade.
